Career Education

Program of study, at its basic definition, is a sequence of career education courses in a given career cluster or pathway that prepares students for postsecondary education or entry into their career. In addition to qualifying for federal Carl D. Perkins funds, Nebraska Career Education has identified the following advantages of identifying programs of study in a school district:

  • Create sequences of NCE courses to prepare students for their career choice
  • Promote postsecondary options for students to continue their education in preparation for successful careers
  • Promote alignment of courses between secondary and postsecondary career education
  • Promote advancement of articulated and/or dual credit courses
  • Provide rigorous and relevant curriculum
  • Provide a tool for career guidance to help students prepare their Personal Learning Plan
